Pedicabs are an earth-friendly way to get around and see the sights of a city you may not know much about. If you own a pedicab, it can be a productive way to make some money part time by giving tourists a look at the city. Though many cities do not yet regulate the activities of pedicabs, you will have to jump through some hoops to be legal in Tampa, Florida, including obtaining a permit from the police department.
Obtain a record of your driving history from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. If you hold a driver's license from another state, contact the motor vehicle authority in that state to obtain the history.
Obtain a permit application for a non-motorized vehicle from a police station in Tampa. The easiest way to do this is to walk into a police station and ask for a paper application.
Fill out the form and sign it in the presence of a notary public.
Take the permit application, your driving history form and your driver's license to the police station. Pay the application fee ($10 in January 2011) and turn in the materials for your non-motorized driving permit. The police will take your photo and issue you a permit for driving your pedicab.
